The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)is a licensed provider who works under the direction of a Physical Therapist to aid in the provision of patient care.
The PTA uses a variety of therapeutic procedures designed to restore loss of muscle strength,coordination and body alignment, to relieve pain and to improve movement and function.
What You'll Do:
Implements physical therapy intervention based on the plan of care, including therapeutic exercise and activity, manual therapy techniques, electrotherapeutic modalities, patient education, functional training in self-care and home management, work conditioning and hardening, and supplying durable medical equipment (as per APTA guidelines and StatePractice Acts).
Documents patient care, daily progress notes, outcomes, and discharge notes inEHR, as per the APTA's Guidelines for documentation, the State of RI's Practice Act, Medicare and other payers' guidelines.
Communicates regularly with physical therapist regarding a patient's status, plan of care, and appropriate progressions for optimized care.
Stays actively up to date with the current practices and the research of physical therapy, through continuing education, tertiary education, in-services, and independent reading to ensure evidence-based care is provided.
Records accurate charges in the Electronic Medical Records on the day of service.
Consults with referral sources and other health care providers under the guidance of the physical therapist regarding diagnosis, plan of care and progress as appropriate tooptimize patient care.
Explains benefit details to patients including authorization requirements, copays, and deductibles.
Assists in appropriate discussion regarding collection activity in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Interfaces with insurance companies to obtain authorization for all insurances, including tracking visits approved.
Negotiates payment terms with customers in accordance with established guidelines to minimize collection agency potential.
Regularly review essential reporting and dashboards to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Communicates with potential referral sources and the general public to expand existing business and cultivate new business and increase the community's awareness of the role of physical therapy in health care.
Partners with Clinic Director to ensure key performance indicators are met:
clinical outcomes, productivity, billing compliance, and patient satisfaction.

Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Physical Therapy that is recognized by the APTA; Hold current license and/or registration.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
